Retreat — The Light of the East: The History and Spirituality of the Eastern Churches

What are the Eastern Churches, and why should we care? In the words of Pope John Paul II, “the venerable and ancient tradition of the Eastern Churches is an integral part of the heritage of Christ’s Church, [and so] the first need for Catholics is to be familiar with that tradition, so as to be nourished by it and to encourage the process of unity in the best way possible for each.”

Promoting a vision of a Church “breathing with two lungs,” this workshop will give believers of all traditions insights into where the Eastern Churches come from, and how their liturgy and spirituality can help make us all better Christians.
