Orthodox-Catholic Consultation addresses mixed marriages

The North American Orthodox-Catholic Theological Consultation has issued a new document on how the two Churches might best approach mixed marriages – between a Roman Catholic and an Orthodox.

Titled “The Pastoral Care of Mixed Marriages: Neither Yours nor Mine – but Ours,” the document urges that both Churches jointly support the family.

The document, which does not represent the official position of any Church, is the Dialogue’s first document on marriage since 1990.

The entire document can be viewed here.

Established in 1965, the North American Orthodox-Catholic Theological Consultation is sponsored jointly by the Committee for Ecumenical Relations of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America, the Bishops’ Committee for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops.
